on pollen8 that is. it seems that we are on a little break, so I didn't feel too bad joining the mid mod quilt bee recently. I'm taking over for someone and decided to catch up on some of their blocks for them. I have to admit that it was pretty fun getting a big package full of different block fabric, maybe bees should send their fabric all at once and you get to pick and choose what order to do them in instead of waiting every month for fabric. I've been randomly choosing which ones to work on and somehow the first two were improv blocks.
jess asked for simple squares and rectangles. I love her quilt sketch and I can't wait to see it come together. I'm not sure how I decided on my block, but I knew I wanted lots of white in it. so much so, in fact, that I almost ran out in the end.
amanda's chevron block was like a puzzle that took me a while to figure out. I probably should have planned the cutting ahead of time but my laziness won out. you could say this method bit me in the ass since it took me a few nights to work on it (so much for being lazy). I started with the printed fabric for the chevron and kept adding in the green, and bits of brown, around it until I got the 20" block I needed. I love the end result and I hope amanda does as well.
