a bag for mom
I'm trying to catch up on some swaps and gifts and realized that I may have skipped over my own mother's birthday present. her birthday was last month! to be honest though, I did make her a snap tote already, but then I started to worry about those metal snaps. my mom has both parkinson's and arthritis (puts things into perspective, no?), so what if my bag was just a constant annoyance to her? that's not a fun birthday present. so yesterday, after a couple of guilt inducing hints from my mom, I decided to rework the pattern for her.
the biggest change was switching from two metal snaps on top to one magnet in the middle for easier closure. I remember she used to have a satchel style purse when I was little, so I tried to mimic that shape with this bag so I made it a little shorter but wider and deeper than the snap tote. she likes big bags, so I hope this one works for her. I used some nani iro fabric for the shell and lined it with a bright green crossweave. the handles are my usual cotton webbing.
I'm so late with this gift, that I don't know what to do about xmas. sigh.
