a little cheer

the holiday spot

we stopped decorating for the holidays a couple of years ago when we realized that we were never here for the actual holiday. it seemed sad to leave that big, green tree alone to go open gifts somewhere else. but this year I wanted to have a little bit of our own holiday again.

our little silver tree

this year I became obsessed with the idea of a silver tree, so I ordered a 2′ tree for our table and went from there. I cut circles from my green, pink, and brown fabric scraps to make a small garland for the tree. I love how it looks like little ornaments hanging.

the garland on the wall was made in a similar fashion from some merino felt I picked up from this etsy seller. this is some of the best felt I have used and the colors are gorgeous. I went with plums, creams, and greens. I loved it so much that I even implemented the scraps as little “stars” around the different sized circles.

tom's stocking

I also managed to get two more stockings done, so dobby isn’t the only one with gifts. I think the hardest part was finding a way to hang them since we don’t have a mantle. I gave up my search for the perfect hooks when I just wanted them up already. so I went to the supermarket and picked up three of the 3m silver hooks. they’ll do for now.

I finally have a stocking

now all I need to do is make a little star for the tree and, you know, actually fill the stockings.

I love the garlands! I’d planned on doing a different kind of garland craft with the kids this weekend, but that’s so fetching that my plans may change.

I love your garland! Did you just pull the thread to get the spaces between the circles?
