I'm not so good at timing these things
of course, as soon as I'm done knitting a wool blanket spring starts to tease us with its seductive charms. if spring wants to come, let it come. for once I can claim I was ready for something ahead of time. though, who knows, with the weather we've been having over here winter may try to make a comeback.

pattern: hap blanket
yarn: 2.5 hanks of louet riverstone worsted in charcoal and 1 hank of romney ridge farm yarns in turquoise
needles: 8mm addi turbos
date started: 02.26.09
date finished: 03.07.09

after I finished ishbel, I found myself with empty needles again. I wasn't sure what I wanted to knit, but I knew it had to use stash yarn. if it could use those leftover yarns I'm never quite sure what to do with, then even better. ysolda's hap blanket not only fit the bill, but it was also a beautiful and useful finished object

this was a pleasure to knit! it seems that ysolda's trademark is to write easy to follow patterns that yield impressive results. it's a simple, and traditional, concept; a garter stitch square with a scalloped edging. the mix of striping and large needles make it modern. (I already told you how I love my color combo, so I won't go there again.) I didn't change anything in the pattern and couldn't be happier. the only thing I couldn't do was to get a nice scallop shape on the edging, but this was mostly due to the size of my blocking board and laziness on my part. I can see myself knitting a couple more of these as gifts this year since there are a few babies coming our way that will need to be kept warm and snuggly.

It's so darn pretty. I think maybe this fall I will knit one of these too! :) (though in burgandy and acid green, which are my fav colors)

Very nice! You are right, the perfect gift. And not a huge yarn hog! Impressive.

Great colour combination - I'm glad you're enjoying my patterns. Binding off really, really loosely helps with the scallops, I re-did mine to make it looser.

Awesome blanket and I love that it was a quick knit. I will have to get this pattern for those gifts I need to start thinking about.

Gorgeous. I wouldn't mind knitting baby blankets if I got to use a pattern like this one.

It's beautiful- and it looks so cozy, too! I wish I had the stamina to knit a blanket!

Oh, man. I love the color combo so much!
However, if/when I make one of my own, I'll probably swap out the charcoal color for a deep, chocolatey espresso brown to go with the turquoise. Mmm.
Excellent work.
