perfect combination

jaywalker_instep.jpg

I had a lot of knitting time on monday (unfortunately) and I had these cheery colors to keep my spirits up. blood tests, ct scans, waiting rooms? sure! take your time, I have a heel to turn! this yarn, with grumperina's pattern, was the perfect antidote (get it?! that's me being witty right there) to some stress*. the colors perk me right up and I couldn't be happier with the striping, 1-2-1-3 rather than 1-2-3. genius.

check out that side foot

2mm needles seem to be perfect for this yarn. the fabric is nice and dense while still being super soft. I didn't originally plan to knit these toe up, but I wasn't sure about sizing so good old turkish cast on to the rescue. I got gauge and a perfect fit, go figure. I then decided to follow this jaywalker mod, but I just didn't have it in me to figure out where to start the gusset increases. short row heel it is, and a cute one at that! I'm sure I dropped some wraps (or a stitch, ooops) but my usual picky self doesn't mind right now. the yarn must have mysterious powers. so does anyone have better ways to hide the wraps in the heel? I ktbl and ptbl, but something is amiss me thinks, since one side sometimes looks a little wonky compared to the other, not to mention how annoying it is to purl three stitches through the back. I'm thinking it has something to do with how I pick up the wraps. any tips?

anyone care to wager on if the second sock will match?

*thanks for the well wishes!

Oh man, those are incredibly cute and cheery! I'm reasonably satisfied with my short row heels/toes (or you know I would have figured a different way already), and I don't knit/purl through the back loop. Hmm... maybe it's some other parameter....

What yarn is that you're using? I LOVE the colors and the stripes are wonderful! I might have to add that to the stash very soon. Thanks!

Janelle

I absolutely love the colors!!! So candy like.

I hope you feel better. I have been through numerous ct scans, mri's and blood tests in my short little life, because of my blood clotting disorder. I know its no fun. I am glad you are able to keep your spirits and socks up!

Lots of sunshine and lovey dovey-ness sent your way,

Emms

ooo those colours are a great combination

Hi from Austria! Wow, I looove these socks, the colors are so cheerful and bright, and the striping certainly is perfect - and I'll take a bet that the second sock will match just fine!

Cute socks! The yarn looks great in the Jaywalker pattern. I hope all is well:-)

What lovely colors! It's looking great.

love it! that yarn wanted to become jaywalkers!

Still lovely! :)

Oh wow, those are fabulous.

Wow, what great colors! I love that you're doing them toe-up, that short row heel looks great (scary for newbie sock-knitting me, but Great!)

I can't believe how perfectly the stripes are matching up for that heel! Wow! Fun colors for spring and summer.

sorry to hear that you're spending time at the hospital! there's just something annoying about waiting hours on end for tests!

i usually pick up the wraps, put them on my needle then ptbl or ktbl. it seems to work! though i'm thinking about trying the backwards YO technique next instead of wrapping.

Cute socks!! Pink and green are among my faves. I really hope you are doing okay...please take care!

whoa, I hope you're doing ok? Just keep knitting those socks, they're so cheerful they look like they could kick anything bad in the butt.

Dont worry guys! I'm ok!!

Those are THE happiest stress busting socks I have ever ever seen. I'm not a bettin' girl but I'm gonna say. there'll be a twin Happy Sock.

Oh those are wonderful colors!! Even if the other sock doesn't match, the colors are so cute that it won't matter.

I hope all of your tests come back with the results you are looking for.

I also hope that the socks didn't soak up any of that stinky hospital smell...that just wouldn't be right!

When you get this stock in...put a skein aside for me...I must have it!

Great stipey socks. I struggled w/ the wraps the last time I did a short row heel and think I ended up knitting into the front of the stitch and purling into the back. I know I definitely picked up the purl wrap from the back. I hope things are ok with you.

i think i was too busy eyeing the fabric in your last post to realize that you had been in the emergency room! i feel like such a dunce, and i really hope everything is ok.

Love the pinky green-ness. perfect for Jaywalkers!

Hope all that hospital time turns out well!

Those are some seriously happy colors and I'm feeling the 1-2-1-3 stripe also...love em.

very cute! i love pink & green together. it matches my tulip top!

Yep those socks are pretty awesome. The colours are like an ad for juice!

I was looking at some of your FO's, and I wonder how much ease you put into your last few (personal) sweaters on average. You seem to like a similar type of fit that I like, which is not too tight but not sack-of-potatoes.

Yum!! What yarn are you using?

the socks are so sweet, but really i just wanted to send my wishes wellness and recovery - i hope it is nothing too serious or alarming

i'm a late comer to your new site!! how lovely, and you gotta love diana's work.

cute socks, too. i also like the sockapal socks you made. beautiful pattern.

those socks look great. the colors and striping are so perfect!
glad to hear you are ok.

What a great colour combination! I have a whole box of coloured sock yarn that I'm just starting to use -- what inspiration for when I get to the rest of the greens! :o)
