happiness is a pink sock

gusset.jpg

I keep telling myself that I should be working on the jaywalkers, or the sunrise circle, or umm, I don't know, work! but I can't stop knitting these, the colors just make me so happy. I've even forgiven the tools of the devil, what some of you call "dpn's", and I'm already in the middle of the foot. I should be done tonight, yay! The guilty conscience likes that.

oh, there's been some confusion, maybe, I don't know. but I didn't dye this yarn. oh please, I don't have the patience to come up with a cool striping sequence or to deal with a warping board! both striping yarns, the pureknits and the appletini, were dyed by jess over at yarntini, she has a couple of skeins left in stock now and she's sending off some yarn for me this weekend. I think she's done a great job and I couldn't be happier with the yarn. come on, it makes everyone smile!

sooo, that knitter's guilt....it isn't helped by packing up my knitting bag. I still have that first jaywalker to finish, a postcard to make (hint, the lace silk has something to do with it), and my lovely sunrise circle jacket to work on. not to mention the scraps of sock yarn I'll be swatching. oh, and a hat I promised steph I would finish so I could tell her about the yarn. oops. what happened to my project list? wasn't I finishing stuff left and right? it feels like I haven't accomplished anything in a while. this weekend though, I will knit! I'm going to the shore tomorrow and I will become a machine. a pair of socks will be completed (not necessarily a matching pair though!), one side of the jacket (you have to start small) will be done, and some swatches will be ready for some rough housing by the time I come back Sunday night. umm maybe monday, let's shoot for monday. actually, don't even hold me accountable. like we say at 'bitter purl': keep your expectations low!

to entertain you in the meantime and in honor of amy who's left a void by getting a new job, here is my weak attempt at:

That yarn is so fun I would have a hard time working on anything else, too. So just work with it, eh?!

Those socks would definitely make me happy! Nice bag too!

Ha, you are funny! This is just a wee hiatus until I get used to my new schedule. I'm sure I'll get back to it starting this weekend.

dude! it's like i'm in the midst of your moment of zen... ;) thanks!

btw, i have sooo many projects i wanna do. sunrise circle jacket is up there...

um, yeah, if that yarn wasn't so deliriously lovely, I'd be giving you the raised eyebrow about the hat....but you're excused!

Wow, you are speedy with those dpn's. I, on the other hand, am painfully slow when it comes to socks. I like your knitting bag, too. It's siblings live at my house in the weekender and nina styles.

Both of those yarns are wonderful! I can see why it is so hard to put the socks down. And btw, your knitting bag is lurrrrvely.

I've tried knitting a sock again. Toe up. Provisional cast on. I had to rip many times but I finally ended up with something that looks like a toe. All of this gives me a great appreciation for your sock.

Oh. My. Goodness. Your knitting bag is so pretty! I covet it.

Nice knitting bag... and thanks for the glimpse of the lime and pink... and also thanks for various and sundry-ing us, I feel more complete now that I know about rockbottom and slashdot... Would Miles be Rock

Pretty stripes! I see why you're having a hard time knitting anything else. Don't be guilty- knitting should be fun. If you're knitting and having fun, I don't think you need to apoplogize for not finishing more things.

Those are great socks!!! I can totally see why you can't put them down!

I love the green and pink yarn! How preppy!! :)

wow, if happiness is a pink sock...imma have to try that. or yarn like yours, in any case :) that sock yarn looks great!

I'm a fan of yarntini! I'm working on some jaywalkers w/ her grape-ade which I will post soon. :)

I am a huge fan the yarntini yarn also. I feel like I stalk her etsy site daily for new yarn. I have 3 pairs on the needles at the moment, but I'm still hungry for more of her yarn. so "boingy" !

Love your bag!

The sock is gorgeous!! You could wear it with your hourglass sweater!! And I'm drooling over the bag by Offhand Designs.

Do what makes you happy at the moment. That's my new motto. And so far it's working. I still love that stripey goodness.

Ummm... I lived in Philly for four years and never knew about the fabric workshop and museum. I can't believe i never made it there. next trip, honestly, i'm going to go there if it kills me (it'll go on my list of things I always do when I visit philly, like buying yarn, going to trader joes, drinking (and stock piling) good local brews (troegs, stoudts, dogfish head and yards) and eating good food. ahhhh city life.
